Brett Penfil

Partner

Brett brings over twenty years of experience as an organizational consultant, leadership coach, and psychotherapist to her work with individuals, teams, and organizations. She has provided leadership coaching to biotech companies, such as Fitbit, Shockwave Medical, and Genentech–where she has been coaching emerging and senior leadership in the research division for fifteen years. 

 

Previously Director of Coaching at the UCSF Center for the Health Professions and Senior Organizational Consultant for Blue Shield of California, Brett continues to coach individual leaders and consult with healthcare and research organizations, including Stanford Medicine, Sutter Health, the Gladstone Institutes, the Center for Healthcare Strategies, and the Yale School of Management.

 

Brett received her master’s degree in public health from the University of Michigan and is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation.

Ania Wertz

Partner

Ania is a leadership coach and licensed clinical psychologist with a private practice in San Francisco and Berkeley. In over ten years of practice, she has worked with professionals from a broad range of fields including biotech, healthcare, law, academia, and the arts. She has helped clients maintain successful business partnerships and guided them through start-up and reorganization challenges. She also coaches co-founders of emerging start-ups.

 

Ania serves as a coach and facilitator for both emerging and senior leaders in Genentech’s research division. Through the Center for Healthcare Strategies, she coaches leaders in public sector healthcare. 

 

Ania uses psychological insights to improve client communication, mentoring, and influencing skills. She comes to the coaching field with a doctorate in European intellectual history from the University of California, Berkeley, and a second doctorate in clinical psychology from the Wright Institute. Her scholarly interest in understanding human emotional and social complexity enriches her approach to understanding how organizations work and how people function best within them.
